Survival Guide

Hello! I would like to say that I enjoyed this class.  Not just for the content, but also for the things we did in class.  Most history classes just have you memorize facts and figures.  This class reinforces what you learned by having you apply it to projects, family circles, and the like.  For example, you learn about the Thirty Year's War by means of edibles for every major turning point.  It may not sound like much, but it helps considerably when trying to remember how the war started, and you think back to the activity, and you remember pudding.  Also, to those who have never taken an AP History before, I will say the quizes are difficult.  They are this way in order to prepare you for the exam in May, and in some ways over-prepare you.  However, if you do get a grade you are not particularly proud of, you can stay after school to figure out why you got certain questions wrong, and learn from your mistakes for the next quiz.  I will say this, after taking and passing this class, do not worry too much about how you did on the quizes, focus more on test strategies and content rather than grades.  I can tell you from experience that focusing too much on your grade will leave you more stressed than you should be, and you will not learn what you should learn to pass the exam in May.  Mrs. Salisbury will help you the best she can with anything you are struggling with, all you have to do is ask.  Mrs. Salisbury says she is striving to get everyone to a 3 on the exam, but I think she's trying to get everyone to a 5.  If you do your work to the best of your abilities, don't procrastinate too much, and learn from your mistakes, you should do just fine in this course.  The only down side to this class is snow days, which will not push the exam back, but will "compress" the amount of time you have left to learn.  This only means that there will be less time to learn, and that things may get a little rushed towards the end.  However,  Mrs. Salisbury will do the best she can at preparing you, even after seven snow days.  Finally, I would like to thank Mrs. Salisbury for an awesome year, and for the goldfish on exam day!
