PROMPT: TO WHAT EXTENT WAS THE RENAISSANCE A BREAK WITH ITS MEDIEVAL PAST?

How did Romanticism express the views of society and history of the 18th century?  How was Romanticism a reaction to the times (events, movements, politics, etc.)? Pay special attention to Romantic Nationalism and Romantics' view of Industrialization.
